Rich heritage and recreational opportunities abound at Canal Place, Maryland's first Certified Heritage Area. This charming historic district is located at the historic western terminus of the C&O Canal in Cumberland, Canal Place features a variety of activities and attractions including canal boat replica tours, scenic rail excursions, the Shops at Canal Place retail plaza, unique galleries, major festivals like C&O CanalFest, hiking/biking along the canal, and the C&O Canal National Historical Park's Cumberland Visitor Center.
In season, Saturday is the day to make your way to Canal Place for evening music, fun and relaxation. Grab a chair, grab a blanket and by all means grab a friend and join in the fun at Saturday Nights Live!
As Canal Place grows, visitors can look forward to even more activities and events in the future, including boat rides on the rewatered terminus of the C&O Canal!
