Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings

Cumberland Theatre

11/27/2009-12/13/2009

November 27-December 13, the Cumberland Theatre presents “Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings,” a brand new show that offer the best of “Forever Plaid” tied up in a nifty package with a big Christmas bow on top! Filled with Christmas standards that have all been “Plaid-erized,” our boys are back to do their Christmas Special. At first they aren’t sure why they’ve returned, but a phone call from the heavenly Rosemary Clooney lets them know that they’re needed to put a little harmony into a discordant world.

Sprinkled among the Christmas offerings are audience favorites like their riotous three minute and eleven second version of “The Ed Sullivan Show” - this time featuring the Rockettes, the Chipmunks and The Vienna Boys Choir, and a Plaid Caribbean Christmas which puts the “Day-O” in Excelsis! This is one holiday treat that is truly “heaven-sent!”

(Program subject to change.)

Performances, held at 101 N. Johnson St., are Thurs.-Sat. at 8PM and Sat. & Sun. at 2PM. In addition, the theatre will offer special showings of “Plaid Tidings” on Fri., Nov. 27 & Sat., Nov. 28 at 2PM & 8PM, and Sun., Nov. 29 at 2PM. Following the 8PM performance on Fri., Nov. 27, there will be free refreshments and a chance to meet the cast!

The Cumberland Theatre, now in their 22nd year, is the Historic Highland’s professional theatre company presenting dramas, comedies and musicals.

During the run of the play, the theatre’s Lobby for the Arts Gallery will host an exhibition by Patricia Hilton, an accomplished pastel painter. Patricia states "I make art to experience freedom. I look at nature as a source of my work and endeavor to honor and take pleasure in wheat I see and touch and what touches me. Through the process f interpreting a luminous quality of light, color relationships, and composition, I seek first to achieve flow and second to communicate. Over the years of creating visual work my intentions and methods have varied; yet the one constant for me has been the true reverence for the beauty, power, joy and transcendence that I strive to share."

Patricia Hilton moved to Cumberland from the Washington, DC area and has a opened a studio here in town. She is a wonderful contributor to the artist's community. Patricia has exhibited her work in several venues including the Allegany Arts Council's Annual Mountain Maryland Studio Tour, the Arteco Gallery and the Gilchrist Museum for the Arts.
